Government Collects Nearly 12% of Revenue Target in First Two Months
This year’s total budget is NPR 1,860 billion. Of this, NPR 82.98 billion has been spent on current expenses by the end of August, while the government aims to spend NPR 1,140 billion on such expenses throughout the year.
kathmandu | In the first two months of the current fiscal year 2081/82 (July-August), the government has collected nearly 12% of its annual revenue target. According to data from the Office of the Comptroller General, a total of NPR 166.38 billion has been raised by the end of August, representing 11.72% of the year’s goal.
The government has set an ambitious revenue target of NPR 1,419.30 billion for the year. Out of the collected amount, NPR 145.19 billion comes from tax revenue, which is 11.31% of the target. Additionally, non-tax revenue stands at NPR 21.19 billion, reaching 15.69% of the expected figure. However, the report indicates that no income from grants or other sources has been received so far.
On the expenditure side, the government has paid out NPR 137.55 billion in the first two months, accounting for 7.39% of the total budget. This year’s total budget is NPR 1,860 billion. Of this, NPR 82.98 billion has been spent on current expenses by the end of August, while the government aims to spend NPR 1,140 billion on such expenses throughout the year. Capital expenditure for the period stands at NPR 14.89 billion, which is 4.23% of the target.
The government has set a capital expenditure target of NPR 352 billion for the year. Meanwhile, financial management expenditure has reached NPR 398.67 billion by August, which is 10.8% of the target. The target for financial management expenditure this year is NPR 367 billion. Compared to the same period last year, both capital and financial management spending have increased, driven by the government's early payments to construction contractors this year.
