Government to Set Prices for Vegetables and Fruits

Kathmandu - Minister for Industry, Commerce, and Supplies, Damodar Bhandari, has inspected the vegetable and fruit markets in Kalimati, Kuleshwar, and Balkhu in Kathmandu. On Sunday afternoon, Minister Bhandari, along with officials from the concerned departments, visited these markets for inspection.

The inspection comes at a time when the prices of vegetables and fruits have soared. Minister Bhandari assured that the government will determine the market prices for vegetables and fruits after discussions with the relevant stakeholders.

"We are currently monitoring the vegetable markets. The concerned officials are here, and they are reviewing the situation," Bhandari said. "We will assess the current purchase prices, the rates at which farmers are selling, and whether there is any shortage. Based on this, we will set the market prices."

Consumers have raised concerns about the sharp increase in prices, some of which have reportedly gone up tenfold. They have urged Minister Bhandari to take action against traders who may be inflating prices.
