Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire, the first part of the Salaar series featuring Prabhas, Prithviraj Sukumaran, and Meenakshi Chaudhary, has made its debut on the OTT platform. Directed by Prashanth Neel, the dystopian action film is now available for streaming on Netflix since January 20. However, there’s a twist for Hindi-speaking audiences.
While the movie is accessible in four languages—Telugu (original), Kannada, Tamil, and Malayalam—the Hindi version is yet to hit the OTT platform. As of now, the release date for the Hindi version remains unknown. Additionally, it’s uncertain whether the Hindi version will be available on Netflix, as the trailer on the streaming platform doesn’t mention the Hindi language.
Past instances have shown that different language versions of a film might be released on separate platforms. For instance, the Kannada blockbuster “Kantara,” produced by Hombale Films like Salaar, garnered over Rs. 400 crore at the box office. During its OTT release, the Rishab Shetty-directed film was available on Amazon Prime Video in Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam, while the Hindi version was released on Netflix. The approach for Salaar’s Hindi release is yet to be clarified.
