Nepal online patrika , kathmandu | Starting from Tuesday, Kathmandu Metropolitan City is implementing a ban on roadside parking within the New Road area. To address the inconvenience caused by this measure, the city has arranged for complimentary parking facilities at Kathmandu Tower, formerly known as Old Bus Park.
According to Rajunath Pandey, Chief of City Police, Kathmandu Tower will accommodate up to 300 four-wheelers and 700 two-wheelers. This initiative aims to alleviate traffic congestion in the specified region.
In conjunction with this directive, parking is strictly prohibited on blacktopped roads in the vicinity of Dharmapath, Indrachowk, Khichapokhari, Mahabouddha, and the surroundings of Bir Hospital.
This decision follows a precedent set in the Jhonche area, where a similar ban on vehicle parking was previously enforced by the city. The move is part of Kathmandu Metropolitan City’s ongoing efforts to enhance traffic management and public convenience.
