Over 100 Dead in Nigerian Fuel Tanker Explosion

Kathmandu. Last night, more than 100 people were killed when a fuel tanker exploded in northern Nigeria. The tragedy took place in the town of Majia, located in Jigawa State.

The explosion occurred after a crowd gathered to steal petrol leaking from an overturned tanker. According to police reports, the tanker caught fire, leading to the deaths of at least 105 people. The incident has also left around 50 others injured, with many in critical condition. They are currently being treated at a nearby hospital in Ringim.

The accident happened on Tuesday night. Despite warnings from police to stay away from the tanker, authorities were unable to control the growing crowd that had gathered to collect the spilled fuel. The fire quickly spread after the tanker overturned.

The fuel tanker was travelling from Kano to Nguru in Yobe State. Although the driver of the vehicle escaped without serious injuries, police have taken him into custody for investigation.
