Kathmandu. India has taken a 131-run lead in the first innings of the second Test against Australia, inspired by captain Ajinkya Rahane’s century.
After Rahane scored 112 runs, the visiting team India took the lead of 131 runs in the first innings. At the Melbourne Cricket Ground, India started the third day at 277/5. Rahane (104) and Ravindra Jadeja (40) were at the crease to start the third day.
Rahane added 112 runs and was run out. Jadeja scored 57 runs. In the morning session on the third day, Ravichandran Ashwin was dismissed for 14, Umesh Kumar Yadav for 9, and Jaspreet Bumrah for zero. Nathan Lyon of Australia took two wickets on the third day. Josh Hazlewood and Mitchell Starc took one wicket each.
Australia scored 195 in the first innings.
