Dang. The team from Group A to reach the semi-finals of the ongoing Prime Minister’s Cup National Women’s Cricket Tournament in Lamahi has been decided. On Sunday, APF defeated State 2 and Lumbini defeated Karnali State by 9 wickets to reach the semifinals one game ahead. Karnali and Province 2, which have lost two games in a row, have been eliminated.
In the second consecutive victory of the tournament, APF completed the challenge of 73 runs presented by State 2 by losing 2 wickets in 13.1 overs. APF opener Jyoti Pandey top-scored with 30 off 40 balls with four boundaries while Sarita Magar (6) and Indu Burma (1) remained unbeaten. Earlier, captain Sita Ranamagar, who scored 18 runs off 30 balls with one four, was dismissed. Kavita Gautam and Saraswati Kumari Chaudhary of State 2 took 1-1 wicket.
After winning the toss and choosing to bat, State 2 lost 8 wickets and scored 72 runs in the stipulated 20 overs. Anuradha Chaudhary top scored with 18 runs from State 2. Shobha Ale scored 13 runs while Santoshi Chaudhary scored 9 runs and Vimala Magar scored 6 runs. From APF, captain Sita Ranamagar took 2 wickets for 14 runs in 4 overs while Rekha Rawal, Karuna Bhandari, Ishwori Bista, and Rajmati Airy took 1-1 wicket. APF captain Sita Ranamagar was declared the player of the match.
In the first match on Sunday, Lumbini defeated Karnali by 9 wickets. Lumbini completed the target of 35 runs set by Karnali by losing one wicket in 3.1 overs. Captain Neri Thapa scored 9, Saraswati Ghartimagar 3, and Geeta Gosain 4 runs to give the team its second victory. Earlier, Karnali, who had won the toss and elected to bat, had scored 34 runs for the loss of six wickets. Karnali’s Diksha Puri contributed the highest 8 runs.
