What is in RPP's 8-Point Suggestion to the Government?
The document also highlights policy arrangements, research and development, strengthening early warning systems, and regular maintenance of physical infrastructure.
Kathmandu – The Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) has submitted an 8-point written suggestion to the government. On Sunday, the party’s chief whip and spokesperson, Gyanendra Bahadur Shahi, handed over the suggestions to Acting Prime Minister Prakash Man Singh, focusing on the topic of "Preparedness for Natural Disasters."
The suggestions include key areas such as risk identification and assessment, early warning systems, physical infrastructure development, and community-based disaster management. The document also highlights policy arrangements, research and development, strengthening early warning systems, and regular maintenance of physical infrastructure.
The RPP’s suggestions emphasize that while it may not be possible to completely eliminate the risk of floods and landslides in a country like Nepal, effective preparedness can help reduce the damage caused. It also stresses the importance of active participation from the government, non-governmental organizations, the private sector, and citizens to achieve this.
