Nepal online patrika , kathmandu | Italian club Roma secured a spot in the last 16 the Europa League football competition by defeating Dutch club Feyenoord. Roma emerged victorious over Feyenoord with a 4-2 win in the penalty shootout during the match concluded on Thursday night.

Following two legs of the tournament ending in a tie, the fate of the teams was determined by a penalty shootout. The initial leg match between the two teams concluded with a 1-1 draw, and similarly, the second leg match ended in a 1-1 tie. This resulted in an overall goal difference of 2-2.

Feyenoord, the visiting team, took an early lead in Thursday night’s second leg match, with Santiago Jimenez scoring for them in the fifth minute. However, Feyenoord’s lead was short-lived.

In the 15th minute of the scheduled time, Lorenzo Pellegrini equalized the score for the home team, Roma. Consequently, the match proceeded to a penalty shootout, where Roma emerged victorious, securing their place in the last 16.

The schedule for the last 16 matches will be disclosed on Friday. Apart from Roma, other clubs advancing to the last 16 include Italian club AC Milan, German club SC Freiburg, Portuguese club Sporting CP, Azerbaijan’s Qarabag, Portuguese club Benfica, Paraguay’s Sparta Paraguay, and French club Marseille.
