Kathmandu. A total of 193,374 children in the district have been vaccinated against measles-rubella. More than 33,000 children have been vaccinated exceeding the target set by the Ministry of Health and Population in the district.

According to Information Officer Indramani Bhandari of the District Health Office Chitwan, the center had set a target to vaccinate 160,494 children in the district. He stated that more than 20.5 percent more children were vaccinated than the center’s target.

From February 13 to March 7, the vaccination campaign was conducted in seven municipalities of the district, targeting children aged nine months to 15 years. According to him, they were vaccinated at 546 vaccination centers. As part of the campaign, 200 drop-out children who missed regular vaccinations were also vaccinated.

A total of 1,600 health workers and 2,200 volunteers were mobilized for the campaign. The campaign was conducted in two phases. In the district, from November 17, 2079, to December 15, 2080, a total of 52 cases of measles and rubella infections were reported in 52 individuals.
