Kathmandu | Bagmati Province Chief Minister Bahadur Singh Lama successfully secured a vote of confidence in the Provincial Assembly meeting held on Tuesday. Lama received 64 votes in favor of his resolution, solidifying his position as the Chief Minister.

In the 110-member Provincial Assembly, a minimum of 56 votes is necessary to ensure government stability. Lama’s vote of confidence was backed by 37 members of the Nepali Congress and 27 members of the CPN UML, demonstrating strong support from these major parties.

During the assembly session, out of the 107 members present, 35 voted against Lama, while 3 members chose to remain neutral. Notably, 7 MPs from the Hamro Nepali Party were absent from the session, and the Speaker abstained from participating in the vote.

Chief Minister Lama was appointed to his position on July 23 following a coalition agreement between the UML and Congress parties. He completed the formation of his cabinet on July 26, which now includes 13 ministers with specific portfolios and one minister without a department.

This vote of confidence marks a significant moment for the Lama-led administration, highlighting the coalition’s ability to work together and maintain stability in Bagmati Province.
