Nepal online patrika , kathmandu |Two men have been charged with murder following a gunfight on the outskirts of a Super Bowl victory rally in Kansas City, Missouri. The altercation resulted in the death of one person and left over 20 others wounded, including the suspects, in a dispute over eye contact, prosecutors revealed on Tuesday.

The arrests, with one suspect charged on Tuesday and the other on Feb. 17, bring the total number of suspects facing prosecution in the Valentine’s Day shooting to four. Last week, two teenagers were apprehended and charged as juveniles in family court with firearms offenses and resisting arrest. Prosecutors intend to seek adult charges against the minors, emphasizing that the investigation is ongoing.

The latest suspects, identified as Dominic Miller, 18, of Kansas City, and Lyndell Mays, 23, of suburban Raytown, each face charges of second-degree murder, two counts of armed criminal action, and one count of unlawful use of a weapon.

According to a sworn affidavit filed with the charges, the violence erupted when Mays and a group confronted him engaged in an argument about eye contact. The altercation quickly escalated, with firearms being drawn by multiple individuals.

The Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office stated that the defendants were armed with firearms during the Super Bowl parade and rally on Feb. 14, 2024. A verbal altercation ensued, leading to gunfire that endangered the thousands of individuals present at the event.

During a brief news conference announcing the charges, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker explained that the violence originated from an argument between Mays and a stranger. The dispute rapidly intensified, with Mays brandishing a pistol, followed by others nearby drawing their weapons.

While both Mays and Miller face murder charges, evidence suggests that it was a bullet from Miller’s weapon that fatally struck Elizabeth Lopez-Galvan, 43, an on-air radio personality. Court documents filed against Mays indicate that a total of 25 individuals were struck by gunfire, including Lopez-Galvan.
