Kathmandu |  A new brand has entered Nepal’s CCTV market under the name Nightvision, bringing with it three competitively priced models aimed at providing reliable surveillance solutions.

While the brand itself is an OEM entity, its range of products—Netra F7, Ratri Dome, and Ratri Bullet—has caught the attention of consumers seeking affordable yet feature-rich options. But how do these cameras actually stack up?

Netra F7: The Budget-Friendly Entry

The Netra F7, the cheapest model at NPR 4,499, is designed to appeal to cost-conscious consumers. Despite its low price, it features essential security tools like two-way audio and motion detection. The camera sports a 3MP sensor, which offers decent HD video quality, especially in well-lit environments.

But does this budget camera deliver on its promises? Our investigation revealed that the Netra F7 performs well for basic home surveillance, but its night vision capabilities are noticeably absent, potentially limiting its usefulness for round-the-clock monitoring. However, the inclusion of cloud storage and TF card support (up to 256GB) gives users flexibility in how they manage their footage.

Ratri Dome: Mid-Range Performer with Night Vision

Next in line is the Ratri Dome, priced at NPR 5,999. The selling point here is its 4MP resolution and infrared night vision, which claims a range of 8 to 10 metres. In our tests, the camera produced sharp images, both during the day and at night, making it an attractive choice for small businesses or homes needing nighttime surveillance.

While the night vision feature worked as advertised, we did find the motion tracking to be slightly slower than expected. The camera’s two-way audio is clear, and, like the Netra F7, it supports both cloud and TF card storage. Overall, it strikes a solid balance between affordability and performance, but minor latency in motion tracking could be a drawback for those seeking more instantaneous alerts.

Ratri Bullet: Durability and Performance at a Price

Finally, the Ratri Bullet stands out as the premium option, priced at NPR 7,499. Its IP65 rating suggests strong resistance to dust and water, making it more suitable for outdoor use in places like shops or offices. It boasts the same 4MP resolution and infrared night vision as the Ratri Dome but offers a more durable, cylindrical build.

In our investigation, we found the Ratri Bullet to be a robust option, with night vision functioning efficiently up to its 10-metre range. The motion detection was quicker than the Dome model, and its ability to withstand environmental challenges makes it a top choice for those needing reliable security in tougher conditions. However, at this price point, consumers might expect more advanced features like higher resolution or extended storage capacities.

Pricing and Conclusion

Netra F7: NPR 4,499
Ratri Dome: NPR 5,999
Ratri Bullet: NPR 7,499

Nightvision's entry into the Nepalese market offers affordable CCTV cameras with decent performance across the board. While the brand covers essential features like motion detection, two-way audio, and night vision, the cameras are tailored for users who prioritise budget over cutting-edge technology. For basic home security, the Netra F7 is a good option, but for more advanced needs, the Ratri Dome and Ratri Bullet offer night vision and sturdier builds, albeit with minor trade-offs.

As with any new entrant, time will tell if Nightvision can maintain its competitive pricing and reliability in the Nepalese market. For now, it presents a strong contender in the growing demand for affordable surveillance solutions.
