Minister Orders Nationwide Water Testing Amid Risk of Disease Outbreak
Pradeep Yadav, has instructed the deployment of technical teams across the country to test water quality.
kathmandu - Minister for Water Supply, Pradeep Yadav, has instructed the deployment of technical teams across the country to test water quality, following concerns that floods, landslides, and inundation may trigger waterborne diseases.
The floods have contaminated water sources, potentially leading to the spread of diseases. Minister Yadav has directed the relevant agencies to focus on water testing and distribute essential purification materials like bleaching powder, Piyush, and Aqua Tabs. His personal secretary, Bhakt Raj Joshi, confirmed these instructions.
In coordination with the Department of Water Supply, bleaching powder and water purification materials have already been distributed in various areas of Kathmandu, according to the department’s branch head, Purna Prasad Upadhyaya. Minister Yadav also inspected the water treatment plant in Sundarijal, which had been impacted by the rising turbidity of the Bagmati River, and ordered the resumption of water supply after the situation improved.
Meanwhile, essential equipment at the Kirtipur Sundarighat Electromechanical Branch has suffered damage due to the flooding.
