Attempt to Arrest Rabi Lamichhane is Political Revenge, Says RSP Leader DP Aryal
We haven’t received any official notice yet. We've only heard that an arrest warrant might be issued.

Kathmandu – The political atmosphere in Nepal is heating up as rumours circulate that an arrest warrant might be issued against Rabi Lamichhane, the chairperson of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP). In response, RSP leaders have gathered at their party office for informal discussions.
RSP Vice Chairperson, Dol Prasad Aryal, has addressed these rumours, stating that while the party has heard about the possibility of an arrest warrant, there has been no official communication yet. Aryal believes that any attempt to arrest Lamichhane would be politically motivated and an act of revenge.
In a brief conversation, Aryal discussed the situation:
There are widespread rumours about an arrest warrant for Rabi Lamichhane. Has the party received any formal notice?
Aryal: We haven’t received any official notice yet. We've only heard that an arrest warrant might be issued. Right now, we are having informal talks at the party office.
If the arrest warrant is issued and an attempt is made to arrest him, what will be RSP’s strategy?
Aryal: We are currently in discussions. Our chairperson has already stated that he is ready to cooperate with a fair investigation. However, if this is an attempt to settle political scores, we will not accept it. We are in the process of forming a strategy on how to face such a situation.
Is the party planning to mobilise its members onto the streets?
Aryal: If our chairperson is unjustly imprisoned, our members could spontaneously resist. But as of now, the party hasn’t given any formal directives on this.
If Lamichhane has already agreed to cooperate with the investigation, why is there opposition to issuing an arrest warrant?
Aryal: The basis for the arrest needs to be clear first.
What about the parliamentary investigation committee's report?
Aryal: First of all, the parliamentary committee has exceeded its mandate by recommending action. Also, the chairperson was not charged with fraud in the cooperative case; he was only held responsible for spending money from Gorkha Media. In that case, the Company Act, not the Cooperative Act, applies. Under the Company Act, a Managing Director is allowed to spend company funds. Which law says spending company money is a reason for imprisonment? That’s our question.
So, the party concludes that this is politically motivated?
Aryal: Absolutely. There's no interest in delivering justice to the victims of the cooperative case. The focus is solely on finding a way to imprison Rabi Lamichhane. If this isn’t political revenge, what is it?
