Home Minister Lekhak: Police Involved in All Aspects of Life

Kathmandu – A new system has been introduced in the Kathmandu Valley where drivers violating traffic rules will receive e-challan, or digital fines. This new system was launched on Sunday during a programme at the Valley Traffic Police Office.

The traffic police have announced that drivers can now pay their fines instantly through digital payment wallets. In the first phase, the system will be implemented in Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, and Lalitpur districts. Special devices have been provided to traffic police to issue these digital fines.

Speaking at the launch of the "Digital Challan" system, Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak highlighted the importance of police in all aspects of life. He said that the police are the first point of contact between the government and citizens.

“The police connect the government with the people. Whenever someone is in trouble, the police are called. Whether there is injustice, lawbreaking, or the need to deliver justice, the police are required. The police must bring those who commit crimes and wrongdoing within the law’s reach. That’s why the police are linked to every dimension of life,” Lekhak stated.

He also mentioned that people often see the face of the government through the police. If the police offer their services with politeness and respect, citizens will feel satisfied, he added.

The minister further expressed the government’s commitment to improving governance through technology, aiming to make all public services more efficient and transparent.
