Deuba Claims Alliance Between Congress and UML Brings Joy to the People

Kathmandu. Sher Bahadur Deuba, the leader of the ruling Nepali Congress and former Prime Minister, has stated that the alliance between his party and the CPN-UML has sent a positive message across the country. Speaking at an event in Dhulikhel on Saturday, where he unveiled a statue of B.P. Koirala, Deuba expressed that the cooperation between the two major parties has brought happiness and relief to the people.

Deuba highlighted that, in times of political friction, the collaboration of two of Nepal’s largest political rivals, Congress and UML, has pleasantly surprised the public. “There were concerns about what would happen when these two main competing parties join hands. However, from what I have gathered, the Nepali people seem pleased across the country,” Deuba said.

The Congress president further urged his party members and leaders to work harder in preparation for the upcoming elections, with the aim of making Congress the leading party. He also addressed criticism that Congress talks more and does less. Deuba advised party members to be more active and connect with the people, especially those in difficult situations.

“People say Congress only talks and doesn’t act. If we don’t step up, other parties will take advantage. That’s why Congress needs to do more work, build a stronger relationship with the public, and win their hearts by serving them,” Deuba emphasised.

He also stressed the importance of Congress working diligently despite the challenges posed by the inclusive proportional system in the constitution, which makes it hard for any single party to secure a majority. Nonetheless, Deuba remains determined to lead his party towards success in the coming elections.
