Doctors Cannot Leave During Hospital Hours: Health Minister

Kathmandu – Health and Population Minister, Pradip Paudel, has stated that doctors working in government hospitals will not be allowed to go to private hospitals during their official working hours.

Minister Paudel informed that the directive issued by the Ministry a few days ago is now being implemented in hospitals and departments. He acknowledged that some issues have arisen during the implementation phase, but assured that these problems will be resolved soon. He emphasized that the government is taking steps to address and organize the challenges in the health sector.

Minister Paudel also highlighted that the progress in the health sector will not be visible overnight, but the government is committed to taking gradual steps toward improvement. He said, "We have started several initiatives, such as improving the effectiveness of healthcare services, organizing health insurance, and adjusting medicine prices. These actions will continue to move forward."

Additionally, Minister Paudel shared that the Ministry has proposed increasing health insurance coverage to five lakh rupees, and the proposal is now awaiting approval from the Cabinet. He said, "If the Cabinet approves our proposal, the five lakh insurance plan will be implemented immediately."
