Kathmandu | The number of dengue cases across Nepal has reached 8,159, with five confirmed deaths, according to the Epidemiology and Disease Control Division (EDCD). The data, published on Wednesday, reflects the rise in dengue infections since the second week of January.

Out of Nepal's 77 districts, dengue has spread to 75, excluding Humla and Mustang. Gandaki Province has the highest number of cases, with 3,863 infections. Bagmati Province follows with 2,074 cases, while Koshi Province has 944, Madhes Province reports 140, and Lumbini Province records 556 infections. Karnali Province has 118 cases, and Sudurpaschim Province has 464 infections.

The rise in cases has prompted health authorities to take preventive measures, especially in the most affected regions.
