Removed from Government for Supporting Good Governance: Prachanda
Prachanda also expressed concerns about the presence of several ministers facing corruption allegations in the current government, claiming that the government has been weak in promoting good governance.

Kathmandu - Pushpa Kamal Dahal, widely known as Prachanda, the Chairperson of the CPN (Maoist Centre), has criticised the current government, claiming it has failed early on due to poor decisions by those in power.
Speaking at the eighth gathering of the Chitwan-Kathmandu Contact Coordination Committee today in Kathmandu, Prachanda remarked that wrong actions, such as attempts to remove the Executive Director of the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) and the Deputy Speaker, have weakened the government’s credibility from the start.
Prachanda pointed to the case of Kulman Ghising, who is known for eliminating load-shedding and lighting up the country. "Despite his major contributions, the government tried to oust him, disrespecting someone who had won the hearts of the public. However, they were forced to back down due to public backlash," he said. He also criticised the attempt to remove the Deputy Speaker, which he described as a decision made without legal or moral grounds, highlighting that the government had to retreat from that action as well.
Prachanda noted that the Deputy Speaker, who has earned international recognition for her work in the fields of women and children, was disrespected when signatures were gathered to remove her. "This was unacceptable to the public, and after we rejected it, the ruling parties stepped back. But when it was already in process, the Prime Minister misled the parliament by denying it," he added.
Prachanda also expressed concerns about the presence of several ministers facing corruption allegations in the current government, claiming that the government has been weak in promoting good governance. He called on the people to remain vigilant and continue raising their voices against corruption.
Reflecting on his time leading the government, Prachanda said that during his leadership, he had advanced agendas of good governance, social justice, and prosperity effectively. He emphasised the need to build on these foundations to move towards socialism.
He also expressed satisfaction that while some party members and leaders were slow to realise the reasons behind his removal from government for tackling corruption, the general public understood the situation quickly. He believes that this realisation has given new energy to his party's future campaigns.
Speaking about the recent support he has received during visits to provinces, particularly in Morang, Sunsari, and Jhapa, Prachanda said that the public’s encouragement has made him more determined. "It’s true that while we became a large party, we lost the trust of the people and weakened our relationship with our class and community. But now we have a huge opportunity to rebuild the party, and we must not waste it," he said.
He concluded by stating that the Maoist Centre’s leadership has gained new strength on both national and international platforms, particularly on issues like peace and climate change. "Our leadership has never been as established as it is now, both nationally and internationally. I’m feeling a new kind of enthusiasm, and I am working tirelessly day and night," Prachanda said.
Prachanda affirmed that progressive, leftist, and democratic forces, which the people support, stand for the rights of the people. The Maoist Centre, he declared, will continue to lead this movement forward. The event was also attended by leaders like Shrikrishna Adhikari and Yashoda Subedi from the Maoist Centre.
