"I expect that the audience wants me to enter politics: Rajesh Hamal"

Kathmandu — Actor Rajesh Hamal has stated that his audience expects him to enter politics. Speaking at a session during the Kathmandu Calling Literature Festival held in Lalitpur, he mentioned that due to the poor state of politics, people tend to hope that individuals from other fields would step into politics.

"My audience expects that I should enter politics. This is the tragedy of our nation. The ones who are currently in politics haven’t accomplished much. People are disappointed with them. Everyone is constantly seeking possibilities, and these possibilities are being searched for in all areas. However, the ones from whom these expectations were held haven’t done much," said actor Hamal.

He explained that a person who starts their journey in a particular field is likely to do the best and most impactful work in that area. "But unfortunately, our politicians haven’t been able to deliver satisfactory results. When society sees someone doing well in their profession, they tend to hope for the same in politics," Hamal added. "Politics is like the backbone. If the backbone doesn’t function, the other parts of the body don’t either. As soon as the backbone weakens, other aspects of the nation also weaken. This is what has happened to our politics."

He also remarked that every hero who acts in movies is a protagonist, but not all heroes may exhibit heroic qualities. "Not every hero needs to be heroic in every movie plot. One can act in a simple storyline, representing a struggling character. They too are heroes because the central character of a film is the hero," he stated.
