Mobile Banking Users in Nepal Increase by 312,000 in a Month, Challenging Digital Wallets

kathmandu | In the first month of the current fiscal year, the number of mobile banking users in Nepal has risen by 312,000. According to the Nepal Rastra Bank, by the end of Shrawan, the total number of mobile banking users reached 24.96 million. This is an increase from 24.64 million at the end of the previous month, Ashad 2081.
During this review period, mobile banking transactions amounted to NPR 377.63 billion, up from NPR 373.97 billion in Ashad. Additionally, 24.57 million digital wallet users facilitated transactions worth NPR 43.69 billion, compared to NPR 38.14 billion in the previous month.
Furthermore, the RTGS system saw transactions worth NPR 10.803 trillion. ConnectIPS handled NPR 525.33 billion, while internet banking accounted for NPR 22.49 billion. During the same period, debit card (ATM) transactions reached NPR 91.93 billion, and credit card transactions amounted to NPR 2 billion, as reported by the central bank.
