PM Oli Urges Youth to Drive National Transformation, Warns Against Destructive Actions

Kathmandu – Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli states that the country can be transformed through the strength of the youth, but he also cautions against those promoting destructive behaviour. His remarks, made during the Constitution Day celebration at the Army Parade Ground in Tundikhel on Thursday, are seen as a veiled reference to Kathmandu Mayor Balen Shah.

Oli and Shah have been engaged in a war of words recently, with Balen boycotting events attended by the Prime Minister. Shah notably skipped Tuesday’s Indra Jatra celebration. Nearly a year ago, Balen made headlines with a Facebook post warning of "setting fire to Singha Durbar," the Prime Minister’s office. Oli’s comments today appear to be a direct response to that threat.

In his speech, Oli acknowledged the fiery passion among the youth to bring change and highlighted their potential to transform the nation. However, he urged caution, advising young people to stay away from those who advocate for destructive actions like arson.

PM Oli's message reflects the ongoing tension between the two leaders, as well as his broader call for positive and constructive efforts to drive the country's development.
