Ring Road Expansion Delays Cause Disruption for Public

Kathmandu |  The much-needed expansion of the Ring Road from Kalanki to Basundhara has faced significant delays, leaving the general public struggling with daily inconveniences. Although some preparatory work, like tree cutting along the route, has begun, the actual road widening is yet to start.

On 22nd August, representatives from the Nepal and Chinese governments signed an agreement to collaborate on the expansion project, officially marking the start of construction on the second section.

The 8.2 km stretch was supposed to be expanded as early as 2018, but delays from both the Nepalese and Chinese sides have slowed the project’s progress.

With the work still stalled, residents and commuters continue to bear the brunt of the unfinished road, facing congestion and other difficulties on a daily basis.
