Balen’s Supporters Attacked at Durbar Marg

kathmandu | A group of supporters of Kathmandu’s Mayor Balen Shah has been attacked at Durbar Marg today. The incident occurred just after they chanted slogans in favour of Balen. Another group of young men reportedly attacked one of the supporters shortly after the chanting.
The youths were attending the National Day Concert, which began at 4 PM. They had shouted slogans mentioning Balen’s name, leading to the attack. Police have stated that the identities of those involved in the attack are yet to be confirmed, and they are currently searching for the attackers. A group of five individuals reportedly attacked the supporters, and the attackers fled the scene immediately after the incident.
The concert, organised to mark Constitution Day, has attracted a large number of young people, many carrying the national flag. Performances by popular artists such as Ananda Karki, Kunti Moktan, Devika Bandana, Sugam Pokharel, Deepak Limbu, Pramod Kharel, Suwani Moktan, and Swapna Suman are scheduled for the event. Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is also expected to attend.
High security measures have been implemented at the venue. Inspector General of Police Basanta Bahadur Kunwar has visited and inspected the site. According to police spokesperson DIG Dan Bahadur Karki, more than 3,000 security personnel have been deployed at the event.
