While initial reports suggest suicide, The family claim it may have been an accident. "It was an accident,Family told, "We will share more details after the police investigation is complete."

Malaika's parents, Joyce Polycarp and Anil Arora, separated when she was just 11 years old. In a past interview with Filmfare, Malaika opened up about the impact their separation had on her and her younger sister, Amrita, who was only 6 at the time.

Malaika mentioned that her mother played a primary role in raising them, and despite a "wonderful childhood," it was far from easy. She reflected, "If I had to describe it in one word, it was 'chaotic,' but challenging times also teach you important life lessons."

Malaika credits her mother for instilling in her the importance of hard work and financial independence. "Watching my parents separate gave me a new perspective on my mother. I learned the value of a strong work ethic and the need to be fully self-reliant.

Those early lessons became the foundation of both my life and career. I remain fiercely independent and live life on my own terms," she shared.

Anil Arora, who hailed from Punjab, was previously in the Merchant Navy, while Malaika’s mother Joyce is a Malayali Christian. Last year, Anil was admitted to the hospital, and Malaika and her mother were spotted visiting him, though the reason for his hospitalization was never disclosed.
