Kathmandu – Water Supply Minister Pradeep Yadav has expressed satisfaction with the progress of the wastewater treatment plant under construction in Dhobighat, Lalitpur. He has directed that the project be completed and brought into operation on time.
Minister Yadav gave this directive during an on-site inspection of the plant, which is being built under the Project Implementation Directorate of Kathmandu Valley Water Supply Limited. He emphasises the importance of completing the project on schedule, noting that it is crucial for managing the increasing wastewater in the Kathmandu Valley due to urbanisation.
“The effective operation of wastewater treatment plants will significantly improve water quality and maintain environmental cleanliness in the Kathmandu Valley,” Minister Yadav stated, adding, “Such projects will not only reduce environmental impacts but also improve public health.”
The minister hopes that once the project is completed, it will effectively manage the wastewater flowing into the valley's major rivers, leading to long-term improvements in sanitation and health services. He reaffirmed the ministry's commitment to providing all necessary support and prioritising monitoring to ensure timely implementation of projects. He also mentioned that the government is committed to prioritising the construction of such treatment plants to protect the environment and improve public health.

During the inspections, Minister Yadav reviewed the progress of the projects and directed the construction company to mobilise resources and accelerate the work. He also received detailed information about the current status, water treatment systems, and the remaining construction work.
Once completed, the Dhobighat and Balkumari (Kodku) wastewater treatment plants are expected to make a significant contribution to providing clean and safe environments for residents in various parts of the valley.
