Kathmandu : The recent heavy rainfall on October 11 and 12 has caused significant damage to the public transport sector in Nepal, with losses amounting to nearly NPR 730 million, according to the National Federation of Nepal Transport Entrepreneurs.

The Federation reported that the damage totals NPR 729.88 million due to the relentless rain. Among the hardest hit are Western Nepal Transport Bus Entrepreneurs Pvt. Ltd., with losses of NPR 118.88 million, Namaste Nepal Transport Entrepreneurs Pvt. Ltd., with NPR 28.5 million, and Gorkha Daraundi Transport Service Company, which faced damages worth NPR 6 million, as stated by Federation President Vijay Bahadur Swar.

Additionally, the Bagmati Tipper Entrepreneurs Association reported losses of NPR 270 million, Nepal Truck Tipper Entrepreneurs Association incurred NPR 200 million in damage, Mahakali Entrepreneurs Multi-Purpose Company Pvt. Ltd. faced losses of NPR 65.5 million, and Rasuwagadhi's checkpoint suffered damage worth NPR 40 million.

The Federation’s General Secretary, Deknath Gautam, informed that a report detailing the nationwide damages to the public transport sector has been submitted to the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Department of Transport Management on Wednesday.
