Restaurant Fined Rs 200,000 for Overcharging on Water

Kathmandu – A restaurant in Pokhara, "The World Lan Hua Restaurant and Bar", has been fined Rs 200,000 by the District Administration Office for selling a Rs 20 water bottle for Rs 100.
According to Assistant Chief District Officer of Kaski, Shiva Lamsal, the restaurant was penalised under the Consumer Protection Act after it was found to be charging more than the maximum price set by the water processing company.
The issue came to light after a customer filed a complaint with the administration, presenting a bill that showed they had paid Rs 100 for a water bottle that usually costs Rs 20.
The local administration stated that the restaurant was fined under Section 39 of the Consumer Protection Act, 2075, for violating Section 38, Clause 8 of the same Act.
