kathmandu | In the third match of the ODI series against Afghanistan, South Africa clinches a consolation victory. Having already lost the series, South Africa wins the final game by 7 wickets.
Chasing a target of 170 set by Afghanistan, South Africa comfortably reaches the score with only 3 wickets down and 102 balls remaining. Aiden Markram leads the team with an unbeaten 69 runs, hitting 4 fours and 3 sixes.
Openers Tony de Zorzi and Tristan Stubbs each contribute 26 runs, while captain Temba Bavuma adds 22 runs. For Afghanistan, Allah Mohammad Ghazanfar, Mohammad Nabi, and Fareed Ahmad each take one wicket.
Earlier, Afghanistan, batting first, is all out for 169 runs in 34 overs. Opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz top-scores with 89 runs, smashing 7 fours and 4 sixes.
Apart from Ghazanfar, who scores 31, and Hashmatullah Shahidi with 10 runs, no other Afghan batsman manages to reach double figures. The South African bowling attack is led by Lungi Ngidi, Nkabayo Mzi Peter, and Andile Phehlukwayo, each claiming 2 wickets.
Afghanistan had already sealed the series, winning the first match by 6 wickets and securing a historic series victory with a 177-run win in the second match.
