kathmandu | Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is meeting with U.S. President Joe Biden, where they have agreed to return 297 valuable artefacts to India. These artefacts, believed to have reached the U.S. through smuggling and other illegal means, will now be sent back to their home country.
Prime Minister Modi thanks President Biden and the U.S. government for their cooperation in the matter. He shares the news on his social media account, X, along with a photo of the meeting.
Modi writes, "Strengthening cultural ties and the fight against the illegal trafficking of cultural heritage. I am deeply grateful to President Biden for ensuring the return of 297 priceless artefacts to India."
These ancient items, some as old as 4,000 years, are linked to different regions of India, spanning from 2000 BCE to 1900 CE.
