Stock Market Continues to Decline: 69 Points Drop in Three Days

Kathmandu | Nepal's stock market index, NEPSE, has been steadily declining over the past few days. On Tuesday, the index dropped by 13 points.

Earlier, the market saw a significant drop of 55 points on Monday and 25 points on Sunday. Within the first three days of this trading week alone, the NEPSE index has plunged by 69 points, falling from 2,701 points on Sunday to 2,632 points by Tuesday.

The trading volume has also reduced. While daily transactions used to hover around NPR 10 billion, Tuesday's trading amounted to NPR 7.24 billion. A total of 190.77 million shares from 328 companies were traded on the day.

Among the market sectors, the trading sub-index was the only one that saw a positive increase of 0.79%. All other sub-indices declined.

Out of the companies traded on Tuesday, the share prices of 170 companies fell, 8 remained stable, and 67 saw an increase.

Notably, Manushi Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha experienced a positive circuit breaker, meaning its share price hit the maximum allowed limit of increase. In terms of transaction value, Hydroelectricity Development Company topped the charts with shares worth NPR 298.1 million traded. By the end of the trading day, its share price stood at NPR 177 per share.
