Unveiled at the recent NADA Auto Show 2024 in Bhrikutimandap, the Punch EV captured the attention of many visitors. With its appealing design and affordable price, the SUV has already established a strong presence in Nepal.

Sipradi Trading, the official distributor for Tata Motors in Nepal, reports that over 5,000 car enthusiasts have inquired about the Punch EV since its launch. On the first day of the NADA Auto Show, more than 100 units were booked.

According to Tata, the Punch EV is well-suited to Nepal’s roads and terrain. It comes in three variants: Punch EV Plus S MR, Empowered LI, and Empowered Plus LR. Prices start at Rs. 33.99 lakh for the Plus S MR, Rs. 36.99 lakh for the Empowered LI, and Rs. 38.99 lakh for the Empowered Plus LR.

The company offers both medium-range (MR) and long-range (LR) models. The MR version features a 25 kWh battery, while the LR variant is equipped with a 35 kWh battery. The MR produces 80 BHP of power and 114 Nm of torque, while the LR generates 120 BHP and 190 Nm of torque.

On a single charge, the MR can travel up to 315 km, and the LR offers a range of 421 km. Charging times vary, with the MR taking around 13.5 hours with a 3.5 kW AC wall charger, while the LR takes 9.5 hours. Using a 7.2 kW charger reduces the charging time to 3.5 hours for the MR and 5.5 hours for the LR. A 50 kW DC fast charger can charge the car from 0 to 80% in just 56 minutes.

The Punch EV features motors with 60 kW in the lower range and 90 kW in the higher range. It also comes with a 360-degree camera, disc brakes on all four tyres in the top variant, and disc brakes in the front with drum brakes in the rear for other variants.

One of the standout features is its 190 mm ground clearance, making it ideal for Nepali roads. The Punch EV’s luxurious interior includes leather and fabric seats, a leather-covered steering wheel, and advanced features like a smart digital charging indicator, LED projector headlamps, and a wireless Android and Apple CarPlay system, all controllable via smartwatch.

The car also includes an electric sunroof with voice control and six airbags for added safety. Tata reports that sales have been strong in Kathmandu and across other cities in Nepal.
