US and EU Urge 21-Day Ceasefire Amid Escalating Israel-Hezbollah Conflict
Joint statement highlights the unbearable enmity between Israel, Lebanon, and Palestine, stating that the rising conflict threatens the entire region
kathmandu | The United States and the European Union have called for a 21-day ceasefire in response to the escalating conflict in Lebanon. The proposal comes amid growing tensions between Israel and Hezbollah. The US, EU, and other allied nations have urged for an immediate halt to hostilities, aiming to find a solution to the ongoing crisis.
The joint statement highlights the unbearable enmity between Israel, Lebanon, and Palestine, stating that the rising conflict threatens the entire region. It emphasizes that such a war is not in the best interest of the people of Lebanon or Israel.
This call for a ceasefire follows remarks from the Israeli army chief, who hinted at preparations for a ground assault on Hezbollah strongholds in Lebanon, following recent airstrikes. For the past three days, Israeli forces have been launching heavy air raids targeting Hezbollah in Lebanon, while Hezbollah has retaliated.
According to Lebanon’s Ministry of Health, the Israeli strikes have already claimed over 500 lives. The international community is now urging both sides to step back and prevent further escalation.
