NEPSE Index Rises by 44 Points, But Trading Volume Hits Lowest in Three Months

kathmandu : The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index has surged by 44.45 points, marking a 1.80% rise, bringing the index to 2,508.86. Despite the increase, the trading volume has shrunk to NPR 3.71 billion, the lowest in the past three months.

Today, 97.17 million shares from 319 companies were traded 50,680 times. The total transaction amount reached NPR 3.71 billion, reflecting a significant decline.

While mutual funds dipped by 0.60%, all other sub-indices showed growth. The finance sector saw the highest rise, increasing by 4.19%, followed by the manufacturing and processing group, which grew by 3.83%.

The banking sector rose by 1.18%, development banks by 1.93%, hotels and tourism by 3.28%, hydropower by 1.22%, life insurance by 1.78%, and microfinance by 1.85%.

Non-life insurance climbed by 0.71%, trading by 1.52%, and other sectors saw a 2.37% increase. Shares of CEDB Hydropower Development Company Limited hit a positive circuit breaker today, while Prabhu Select Fund saw the largest decline, dropping by 9.36%.

In terms of transaction value, CEDB Hydropower Development Company Limited led the day with transactions worth NPR 176.9 million. Based on the number of shares traded, Citizen Super-30 Mutual Fund topped the list, with 1.2 million shares changing hands.
